2014 NAIG Hosting Agreement Signing

October 12, 2012

On October 12, 2012 NAIG Council President Dave Canadian travelled to Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada to meet with the Regina 2014 NAIG Host Society before signing the 2014 NAIG Hosting Agreement.

The hosting agreement is between the NAIG Council and Host Society and is signed after several contractual milestones have been met in the development of the Host Society. It also commits the Council and Host Society to work together to meet hosting standards leading up and following the Games. The hosting agreement has been negotiated by the two parties after awarding the 2014 NAIG to Regina in May 2011.

Earlier in the day, NAIG Council representatives were invited to a traditional pipe ceremony conducted by Host Society elder Tony Cote. The ceremony was conducted as a means to traditionally recognize the partnership between NAIG Council and the host community and bless the signing of the host agreement.

Following the signing ceremony, the Regina 2014 NAIG Host Society presented NAIG Council with an award of recognition for their “Commitment and Dedication to Aboriginal Youth in Sports”. A commemorative plaque was commissioned by a local company.
