February 13, 2020

Kjipuktuk (Halifax) NS, February 5, 2020 ----- Organizers for the 2020 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG 2020) are thrilled to welcome Grey Sea Artist and Event Management on board as a key partner for this summer's historic event. Grey Sea will oversee the design, production, and management of the opening ceremonies of the Games, at the Scotiabank Centre, and the Cultural Village, to be located on the Halifax Commons and at select sites along the Waterfront.

''Grey Sea has a wealth of experience and knowledge when it comes to creating genuinely beautiful cultural experiences,'' said Fiona Kirkpatrick Parsons, Chair of NAIG 2020. ''We are confident in, and excited to be working with, them on these important elements of The Games.''

A vibrant vision for the Cultural Village is already taking shape. Grey Sea owner and President, Andree Gracie, and her team plan to create an entertaining and informative experience for all. ''We want people leaving the event more educated on Indigenous history and more aware of Indigenous cultures, especially Mi'kmaq culture,'' said Gracie. ''We want to offer the ''wow'' factor.''

The Cultural Village will feature interactive Mi'kmaq cultural demonstrations, Indigenous music and dance, and an Artisan Vendor Marketplace showcasing Indigenous arts, crafts, and cultural culinary items from across Turtle Island (North America.) ''NAIG 2020 will be full of wonderful opportunities for learning and sharing,'' added Kirkpatrick Parsons. ''The Cultural Village and other cultural experiences will truly bring those opportunities to life.''

With equal emphasis on both sport and culture, NAIG 2020 will bring thousands of participants and visitors to Halifax and the surrounding areas. ''I know everyone is so proud and excited to host the world and share the beauty of this region, to share the history and culture of the Mi'kmaq people, and to showcase the amazing youth that will be participating,'' said Gracie. ''This event will instill great pride of people and place and leave behind an amazing legacy.''
