The 2014 NAIG Numbers Are In!

Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada will be hosting roughly 4500 athletes, coaches, managers and chaperones this summer for the 2014 North American Indigenous Games.

20+ Provincial, Territorial and State teams have registered at the January 17, 2014 registration deadline. The deadline required 50% of registration fees per participant and declaration of team size.

3600 athletes and 900 support staff (head coaches, assistants, managers, chaperones) are expected.

Teams were also required to provide a breakdown of their contingent by sport, age category and gender divisions. This is a rough breakdown of the athletes.

  • 80% of the participants at the 2014 NAIG will come from Canadian Provinces and Territories.
  • 20% of participants are from the United States of America
  • There is nearly a 50/50 gender ratio except Baseball and Lacrosse being male sports
  • The largest team total 500 participants and the smallest have 10 members
  • In team sports, there are between 4 and 16 teams registered to compete
  • Numbers will fluctuate as teams finalize their rosters leading up to the NAIG

The next deadline for teams is Friday, April 11, 2014 which will require the balance of the registration fees per participant and names entered into the Host Society's online registration system.

NAIG Council will be finalizing the registration report in early March 2014 with team specifics publicized soon afterwards.
